Peter Andre has hit out at ex-wife Katie Price's claim that children from broken homes are lucky as they get more presents and holidays.
The Australian singer - father to five-year-old son Junior and three-year-old daughter Princess - wrote in his column in New! magazine he felt divorce should be avoided at all costs.
Peter, who divorced the glamour model, said: "Obviously for some couples, divorce is the only option and there's no other way for them. But I think, ideally, kids shouldn't have to go through it and if they do, they certainly shouldn't be classed as 'lucky'. No amount of material possessions make up for the fact that you don't have both parents around you all the time."
The father-of-two says divorce affects children of any age.
He said: "[Katie] said that as long as it happens before the kid are a certain age, it doesn't affect them. I have to say I really don't agree with this. I think that divorce absolutely affects kids no matter what age they are and that if it can be avoided, it should be."
