Australian TV show Weekend Today broadcasts live from Belfast
More than 1.5 million Australians watched a live broadcast from Belfast over the weekend.
The hugely popular Weekend Today programme linked back to Oz live from McHughs Bar in the city on Saturday, while also showing recorded footage of St George’s Market and Titanic Belfast on the Australian TV station, Nine Network.
The segment aimed to highlight the spectacular beauty of Belfast as well as the many things to do in the city.
The TV show also visited Dublin the previous day.
Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia, said: “The publicity value of a TV show like Weekend Today is fantastic.
"These broadcasts will have been seen by more than 1.5 million potential holidaymakers right across Australia, raising awareness of Belfast and Dublin and encouraging more people to come and visit.
“Australia is an important market for tourism to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland.
"In 2016, we welcomed more than 200,000 visitors from Australia and New Zealand.
"Tourism Ireland is rolling out a busy programme of promotions this autumn – aimed at boosting late-season travel and to position us well for 2018.”
