Author takes a bow as Lyric stages war drama

By Pamela Ballantine

To commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, the Lyric Theatre is staging a production of How Many Miles to Babylon, a play adapted by Alan Stanford from Jennifer Johnston's novel about two boys from Ireland who go off to fight.

Guests at the opening night were delighted that the author was able to attend the production, which has received rave reviews and will be on until May 24.

Author Laurence Donaghy was the centre of attention in the Forbidden Planet bookstore at the launch of his latest book published by Blackstaff Press. Folk'd Up is the second book in the Folk'd trilogy and fans at the signing are eagerly awaiting the release of the final instalment.

It's hard to believe that it's 10 years since opened its check-in desks at Belfast International Airport and over the past decade, the demand for sunshine breaks from Northern Ireland has grown.

So to say thank you to its travellers, the airline held a birthday celebration with five lucky Cool FM listeners winning tickets to some sun-soaked destinations. I'm packed and ready to go if anyone needs a travelling companion!
