BBC presenter Stephen Nolan is fighting fit after shedding more than three stone in as many months.

And he insists he is only at the halfway point when it comes to reaching his target.

The 45-year-old has been on a weight loss mission for the past three months and charting his progress online, often sharing pictures of his gruelling gym sessions with his 200,000-plus Twitter followers.

He started the 'Biggest Diet in the Country' in February when he tipped the scales at 20st 8lbs.

And as he reached his latest milestone, he said that he still plans to drop another three stone by July.

Two years ago the presenter revealed that he would love to be a surfer and a runner on Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles, where he regularly holidays.

He recently tweeted that his goal this summer is to "run along the LA beach when I arrive on July 10" and finally be able to buy clothes at the Ontario Mills outlet mall he visits every year.

On Twitter yesterday he told of his delight at being able to buy jeans from a shop after shedding 20 inches from his waist.

He tweeted: "I'll be walking out of this shop like John Wayne, but I'm squeezing into 36" waist jeans in this shop.

"Exactly 11 weeks ago, I was 56". 4 weeks ago 42" 3 weeks ago 40" 2 weeks ago 38" Today 36".

"Still another 3 bloody stones to go by July 2."

Yesterday was also weigh-in day, when the Radio Five Live and Radio Ulster host was aiming to tip the scales below 17 stone.

Having struggled with his weight his entire life, last October Nolan made the decision, yet again, to try and slim down by Christmas.

With the help of Belfast boxer Carl Frampton and his radio show producer Vinny Hurrell, he weighed in in front of the audience on his Wednesday night television programme Nolan Live at 21 stone 9 lbs.

Nolan has previously publicly documented his weight-loss attempts in TV shows including Food On The Brain and Biggest Diet In The Country.

In 2015 he put five stone back on after losing seven the previous year.

At that point he had dropped from 22st down to 15.2st.
