Beckinsale happy if daughter acts
Kate Beckinsale would be supportive if her daughter wanted to be an actress, she has revealed.
The Underworld: Awakening star, who has an 11-year-old daughter, Lily Mo, with ex-partner Michael Sheen, said she wouldn't have any qualms if her offspring wished to follow in her footsteps.
"I would be supportive. I wouldn't discourage her, because I hated it when people did that to me," she said.
"I would just encourage her to keep her options open as long as she could. I remember when I used to announce to my parents and my parents' friends that I was going to be an actress, and all of them, even the ones that were incredibly successful, would all go, 'Don't'. I was like, 'Why are you doing it if it's so awful?'
"It is a decision you make when you're 18, and I think 18 is a perfect age to be an actor, before you've got kids. It's quite a strange, peripatetic life, you know, that can be sometimes hard to arrange."
Kate, who now lives in Los Angeles with Lily Mo and her director husband Len Wiseman, is proud that her child continues to have a British accent.
"I'm very proud of the fact that she has an English accent, I understand that's quite unusual," she said.
"A lot of my friends who have kids move over here and within about three weeks they've got an American accent."
