Bernie Nolan has revealed her bald head as she stepped out for the TV Choice Awards ceremony in a floor-length black gown.

The 49-year-old member of all-sibling pop group The Nolans shaved her head after chemotherapy treatment for cancer caused her hair to fall out.

Her sister Coleen said she "so proud" of Bernie for refusing to cover up her head at the bash.

The Loose Women presenter said: "She's been really brave because she hasn't put a wig on, so she's just come with her bald head."

She went on: "The message she puts out there, for women going through the same thing, is don't be embarrassed by it, you've lost your hair because you are being cured. She's so strong about it all. She's fabulous, I'm so proud of her."

Singer and actress Bernie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, is the third Nolan sister to battle the disease.

Her sisters Linda, 51, and Anne, 59, both overcame breast cancer.
