Beyonce shows off body at NY gala

Beyonce flaunted her post-baby body in a sheer, figure-hugging gown at the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Benefit Gala in New York.

The Grammy-winning singer - who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in January - wowed in a Givenchy Haute Couture jewelled floor-length creation with purple feathered train at the star-studded event, celebrating the museum's new exhibit, Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli: Impossible Conversations.

Other stars on the red carpet included Rihanna in a slinky black number by Tom Ford, Jessica Alba in a gold Michael Kors gown, Scarlett Johansson in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with tulle mermaid skirt and sparkly bodice, Sarah Jessica Parker in a floral dress by Valentino and Emma Stone in a Lanvin red dress, embroidered with crystal flowers.

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart went for a modern look in colour-blocking Balenciaga while Gwyneth Paltrow braved it out in a backless silver Prada minidress, and Christina Ricci chose a Thakoon gown with huge bow.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, who are reportedly engaged, fuelled further speculation about their romance as they arrived arm-in-arm, with Jessica wearing a ring on her ring finger.

Britain was represented by Carey Mulligan, who shimmered in a Prada fishscale halterneck dress as one of the hosts of the night, while Florence Welch supported homegrown talent in an embroidered organza tiered dress by the late Alexander McQueen.

The women stole the limelight away from the male attendees, including Kanye West - without rumoured girlfriend Kim Kardashian, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick and Glee stars Cory Monteith and Darren Criss.
