Bieber arrest video in lockdown

Justin Bieber's lawyers are trying to prevent the release of video footage police made of the star shortly after his recent arrest.

A South Florida judge will rule on a motion by the Associated Press and other media outlets seeking the release of police videos made shortly after the singer's arrest in Miami in January.

Bieber's legal team want a Miami-Dade County judge to prevent the release of the videos until his lawyers can review them for potentially inappropriate material.

The AP and other media insist there is no legal basis to withhold videos of the 19-year-old pop singer taken at a Miami Beach police station after his arrest on January 23 2014.

Both sides will argue their cases at a hearing on Thursday February 20.

Bieber has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. Police claim he and singer Khalil Amir Sharieff were involved in an illegal street drag race.
