Blue Peter team mourns dog Lucy
Blue Peter presenters are mourning the death of programme pet Lucy the golden retriever.
She appeared on the show for 12 years and alongside 12 of the hosts of the BBC1 series.
Programme bosses paid tribute by screening a film of her career highlights on Monday afternoon's edition of the children's show.
Lucy, who was 13 and died of cancer, was the seventh Blue Peter dog, appearing in hundreds of editions of the show, adapting quickly to life in front of the cameras.
Presenters Gethin Jones and Andy Akinwolere notably received a soaking when they tried to bathe her for the programme.
The pet - who loved to play with a yellow squeaky ball - proved popular with viewers, with thousands of children sending in their pictures of her.
She was recently dressed as a policeman for an appearance with chart group The Wanted, and she has met notable figures such as the Queen and JK Rowling.
Presenter Helen Skelton said: "When you join Blue Peter you join a family and Lucy was a loyal and loving member of that family unit.
"I know the viewers will miss her as much as we already do."
