Bratavio is first act voted off The X Factor

Louis Walsh is down to just one act on The X Factor, after Bratavio became the first act voted off the ITV competition on Sunday night (09Oct16).

Bratavio was the first act voted off The X Factor on Sunday night (09Oct16).

The duo, Bradley Hunt and Otavio Columbro, failed to impress viewers with their rendition of Aqua's Barbie Girl on Saturday's show (08Oct16) and found themselves in the two bottom performers.

After performing Yazz's The Only Way Is Up in a sing-off alongside Finnish singer Saara Aalto, the pair were sent home by the judges.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor after their departure, the boys said: "We gave it our best shot, but if the public didn't connect with us then there's nothing we can do.

"We weren't surprised to find ourselves in the bottom two. In fact, we already had our bags packed."

And they knew that when their vocal talents were compared to Saara's, they had little chance of surviving.

"Saara is amazing - she has such an incredible vocal range," they said. "We weren't surprised that the other judges didn't pick us because, ultimately, the best singer has to go through."

Saara chose to perform Sia's Alive for the sing-off - a tune she has performed on numerous occasions during her time on the talent show so far - and impressed the judges with her rendition of the difficult track.

While Louis opted to save his own act, he added: "The sing-off, Saara you were incredible, you were world class, it was one of the best sing-offs ever, but because I'm the mentor for the two boys, I have to send Saara home."

Nicole and Sharon both opted to sent Bratavio home, leaving head judge Simon Cowell with the deciding vote.

"That was probably the craziest five minutes I've ever seen," Simon said. "I'm not even going to pretend here, if this was a horse race it was like a guinea pig versus a race horse, nice try guys, the act I'm sending home - obviously - is Bratavio."

Louis is now left with just one act in the live shows, 5 After Midnight, after Brooks Way, sibling duo Josh and Kyle Brooks, were pulled from the live show following an allegation of domestic violence.
