Hundreds of people took part in the annual Santa Splash at East Strand in Portrush yesterday

For a short time yesterday there was a sea of red at Portrush's East Strand as dozens of brave charity fundraisers topped off their swimwear with Santa hats to take on the frigid Atlantic on the shortest day of the year.

Now in its sixth year, the Santa Splash  continues to grow and the hope is that thousands of pounds will have been raised for the Marie Curie Cancer charity.

A spokesperson said: "This is another wonderful charity which offer many different types of support and care."
