Bullseye host Jim Bowen dies aged 80
The host of popular 80s game show, Jim Bowen has died.
His wife confirmed the news to BBC Radio Lancashire.
A stand-up comedian and former teacher Mr Bowen made his name on the popular darts themed quiz show Bullseye which ran from 1981 to 1995.
Famously the show offered contestants the chance to win a speed boat and at its height was watched by 12million people.
He was known for the "super, smashing, great" and "now look what you could have won..." catchphrases in the show.
He enjoyed cameo roles in dramas such as Last Of The Summer Wine as well as roles in Jonathan Creek and in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.
In 2011, Bowen, also known as Alf in the Tetley Bitter adverts, said he had learned to "appreciate all the things in life" after suffering two strokes.
