Caitlyn Jenner feels 'liberated' after gender reassignment surgery

Caitlyn Jenner has insisted she will only discuss the surgery in the memoir, writing, "this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”

Caitlyn Jenner underwent gender reassignment surgery in January (17), she has revealed in her autobiography The Secrets of My Life.

The reality TV star and former Olympian announced in April, 2015, that she was transitioning into a woman from her previous identity of Bruce Jenner. She chronicled this major life change in docuseries I Am Cait, which showed her adjusting to living as a woman and everything that goes with it.

Now it has been revealed that Caitlyn has undergone one of the most permanent parts of the transition, by having an operation. She reveals the news in her upcoming memoir, due for release on 25 April (17), and said she decided to release this excerpt early in a bid to put an end to the endless questions from fans about whether she still has the genitalia she was born with.

“The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,” she writes in the book, which is being serialised by Radar Online.

“So why even consider it? Because it’s just a penis. It has no special gifts or use for me other than what I have said before, the ability to take a whiz in the woods. I just want to have all the right parts. I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time."

Caitlyn concluded by insisting she will never talk about the surgery again, writing: "You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”

Caitlyn has teamed up with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger, who wrote her famous Vanity Fair profile in 2015, to write her memoir.

She released a statement last January (16) announcing that she was going to start penning the story of her life, which will chronicle her "journey from Bruce to Caitlyn, and her brave transition into womanhood."

Caitlyn added she and Buzz were going to work hard to make sure her story was "told with a lot of honesty and care."
