Candice Brown: 'The new Bake Off is absolutely amazing!'
Candice's kind words come after former judge Mary Berry also praised the show.
Candice Brown has lent her support to Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off, labelling it "absolutely amazing".
The 32-year-old was crowned the winner of the last series of the baking show, which aired on the BBC before Channel 4 snapped it up in a bidding war. While many viewers had been sure they would dislike Channel 4's version of the programme, which saw veteran Paul Hollywood joined by new co-judge Prue Leith in place of Mary Berry and presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig replacing Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, they were left pleasantly surprised by the new take on the much-loved format.
And Candice believes those people will now be eating "humble pie", as ratings from the premiere last week showed that the episode pulled in 9.5 million viewers.
"It's just as expected - it's absolutely b**ody amazing. Some people will be eating humble pie as it hasn't changed," Candice told the Evening Standard of Channel 4's Bake Off. "People were saying, 'Oh, it's not going to be the same.' And I was like, yes it will be, just wait. Noel and Sandi offer that light relief brilliantly. Then you have the knowledge of Prue. And Paul, who is amazing."
Viewing figures for this week's episode were slightly down, with more than six million people tuning in. And Candice ensured she was one of them - despite an incredibly busy week.
"I am in the process of moving, so (this week) was like a military operation. I was like: 'I need to get back, I need to get back.' I love it," she laughed.
Candice's praise of the new show comes after ex-judge Mary also offered her approval, telling The Sun: "I have looked at it, yes and I have to say it's a wonderful format.
"It's a wonderful creation that programme, and it's followed the same lines. It continues to be brilliant."
