Carey Mulligan's early bedtime

Carey Mulligan has insisted she's no party animal.

"I really am in bed at 9pm," the actress joked at the Toronto International Film Festival.

When quizzed if she'd been enjoying any of the festival's glitzy parties, Carey confessed she wasn't much of a fan.

"The parties are nice if you're with your crowd as it's nice to celebrate the film together, but no I feel like I don't really enjoy the networking sort of thing," she admitted. "If I'm going to meet somebody it should be for a job where I can audition and act."

She joked: "I don't think my personality is going to impress anyone into giving me a job!"

Carey flew into Canada to promote her new film Never Let Me Go, based on the best-selling novel by author Kazuo Ishiguro and adapted into a screenplay by The Beach author Alex Garland.
