Carol Vorderman's mother Jean has died after losing her battle with terminal cancer.
The former Countdown presenter took to Twitter on Monday (19Jun17) to inform fans of her mum's passing.
Revealing that the funeral had been on Monday, Carol tweeted: "Some days are tough, today was one of them. Today was my amazing Mum's funeral..... Rest In Peace Jean Vorderman You will always be loved."
Carol had been responsible for rushing her mother to hospital in March when the 88-year-old was suffering intense pain.
After undergoing several tests at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Jean was told she had multiple tumours, and even though she had battled cancer three times previously, it was not curable this time. The mother-of-three then decided she didn't want to have any more treatments for cancer, and instead wanted to spend her final days with her beloved family.
"At my age I don't want to undergo any further operations or chemotherapy treatment which can't cure these new cancers anyway," she told the Daily Mirror newspaper in March. "Now my family and me will concentrate on being happy and celebrating the time we have together. I'm refusing to let them be sad."
Carol, her brother and sister then took on caring duties of their mother in Bristol, with the 56-year-old star making the decision to cancel her plans to fly solo around the world, which had been scheduled for six weeks after Jean's diagnosis.
"Mum is now my priority and that includes above flying and other things. Luckily my brother and sister are helping to look after her and we are making her happy and comfortable between us," I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Carol said in a statement to Express.co.uk. "I was meant to take off to start my solo flight in about six weeks' time but my head isn't straight at all, and certainly not good enough to take on that difficult challenge right now."
