Carr card trouble despite boom year

Alan Carr has told how he was left red-faced when his bank card was declined in front of a long queue of people.

The chat show host and comedian was at the O2 concert venue in south east London when he found himself in an embarrassing situation.

He wrote on Twitter: "Card declined at the O2 last night in front of massive queue - I have got more than £13.70 in my account - honest!!"

The 34-year-old was recently ranked as the 14th biggest comedy earner this year, with £2.5 million.

The Chatty Man had a £3 million two-year deal from Channel 4, but he said the broadcaster had asked him to take a pay cut. He also has a Radio 2 Saturday evening show and royalties from DVDs and a book.

The next instalment of Chatty Man, Alan's Channel 4 comedy chat show, features Cheryl Cole, who will be singing The Flood and an acoustic version of Promise This, as well as joining the comedian on the sofa.

Michael McIntyre, the new judge of Britain's Got Talent, Stacey Solomon and Shaun Ryder are also on Monday's guestlist.
