Cheryl and Naomi Campbell praise Enninful’s ‘divine’ first British Vogue cover
Enninful took over as the editor of British Vogue after Alexandra Shulman left the post earlier this year.
Cheryl has led the praise after new British Vogue editor Edward Enninful unveiled his first cover.
Fashionistas including Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham have also congratulated Enninful on the December edition of the magazine, which features model and campaigner Adwoa Aboah on the front.
Cheryl posted a picture of the magazine on Instagram and said: “Sooo beautiful! @adwoaaboah! Congratulations @edward_enninful on your stunning first @britishvogue cover.”
The star added the hashtag “new era”, while her boyfriend Liam Payne said the edition was “amazing”.
Catwalk queen Campbell shared the image with her social media followers and said it was “divine”.
“This is an iconic day one we must all remember a day of CHANGE IN MOST POSITIVE WAY !!!” she said, adding that Aboah “should be so proud”.
Spice Girl-turned-designer Beckham, who is featured in the magazine, said: “Thank you and congratulations @edward_enninful so proud to be a part of your first issue x VB @britishvogue #NewVogue.”
Model Bella Hadid said in a lengthy Instagram post that the cover “gives me chills”.
“What a timeless, radiant cover my beautiful, incredible @adwoaaboah !!! Stunning and smart !!” she said.
“Congratulations to the genius @edward_enninful on a new era of @britishvogue what an energizing&inspiring start!!!! I can’t stop staring! Completely in LOVE!”
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan even weighed in, writing on Instagram that Enninful was “showing Britain at its diverse and creative best”.
Enninful took over the role from Alexandra Shulman, who left the post in August after 25 years.
The edition will see the new editor-in-chief and Aboah discuss the importance of diversity in fashion as they share their definitions of being black and British in 2017.
It will also include shots by photographer Steven Meisel, marking his first cover and editorial story for a British magazine in 25 years.
Enninful appointed British Fashion Council ambassador Aboah as a contributing editor for the magazine in July, alongside an intimate team including make-up artist Pat McGrath, Steve McQueen, supermodels Kate Moss and Campbell, and American Vogue creative director Grace Coddington.
Aboah is also known for her partnership with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this year to raise awareness surrounding mental health issues, as well as creating digital women’s empowerment platform, Gurls Talk.
:: The December edition will be available from Friday.
