Christine Lampard has made a tearful return to Loose Women - five months after becoming a mother.

The TV presenter from Northern Ireland described her days with daughter Patricia as "a beautiful fog" and she also told of her difficulties breastfeeding.

To celebrate her comeback to the popular lunchtime show just days after she turned 40, her ITV colleagues surprised her with a montage of birthday greetings from her friends in the industry.

Delighted Christine wiped away happy tears as Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby also wished her well on her return to the panel.

After the video, the Newtownards native asked co-stars Nadia Sawalha, Stacey Solomon and Gloria Hunniford if they were trying to make her cry.

Christine and her football manager husband Frank Lampard, who welcomed their little girl into the world in September, named her after Frank's mother Pat, who passed away in 2008 aged 58 after a battle with pneumonia.

She revealed how the birth had turned her into a "complete emotional mess", adding: "I was fine until the doctor said, 'Christine you're about to become a mummy'."

She also revealed the challenges of motherhood, explaining how "the first day I got caught out on breastfeeding in public. I wasn't sure what I was doing".

Christine also admitted she's been missing the support of her parents when it comes to helping out with the baby day-to-day as they live in Northern Ireland.

"I've missed home terribly," she said. "I'm not brave enough to take my baby on the plane to Northern Ireland yet. My parents have come here all the time though."

She added: "You want your parents to be very much part of it. She's the first grandchild."

Christine and Frank met at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2009. He later proposed while the couple enjoyed a holiday in America in 2011.

The couple had a four-year engagement before wedding at Saint Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, London, in December 2015, with Ed Sheeran performing at the Mayfair reception.

Frank, the manager of Championship side Derby County, has two other children - Luna (13) and Isla (11) - from a previous relationship with Spanish model Elen Rivas.

Christine paid tribute to her daughter's namesake, telling the ITV show: "Frank was incredibly close to his mum. It's one of his biggest sadnesses we never met because she passed away the year before we met."

And she explained that she has a photograph of Frank's mother in her baby's nursery and said: "When I'm feeding her I'll say, 'That's your granny - that's who you are named for'."

The TV star also said her hubbie should step up to the plate a bit more because "he's done less nappies than me".

She added: "When he is doing the nappies he's very good but he's not doing them as much as I'd like!".
