Claudia Fragapane falls at Strictly Come Dancing's final hurdle

Louise Redknapp, Ore Oduba and Danny Mac will now compete for the Glitterball trophy in next weekend's (17-18Dec16) Strictly Come Dancing final.

Claudia Fragapane was voted off Strictly Come Dancing on the semi-final of the show on Sunday night (11Dec16).

The 19-year-old gymnast and her professional partner AJ Pritchard, 22, had impressed judges during their time on the BBC show. But after a dance-off with presenter Ore Oduba, Claudia was sent home.

Speaking to host Tess Daly about her time on the programme, Claudia struggled to control her emotions as she said: "I can't believe I made it this far to be honest.

"Everyone is so lovely and I'm just so happy that I've made it this far and everyone has just been incredible people, and to come out and not be as confident as I was, I feel like a different person now, all thanks to this show."

She then turned to partner AJ, telling him: "You have been absolutely amazing. You really have pushed me to the best of my ability. You have been so lovely to me and you've really boosted my confidence and it's all thanks to you."

The admiration was mutual, as AJ replied: "I'm just so proud of her, so proud of how far you've come and just how confident you are now. Thank you."

Ore, Louise Redknapp and Danny Mac will now compete for the Glitterball trophy on next weekend's (17-18Dec16) show. Hollyoaks actor Danny is currently favourite to win the programme, with bookmakers William Hill giving odds of 10/11 to emerge victorious. Louise is on 11/8 while Ore rounds out the top three with odds of 6/1 to win.

Whether or not she wins the show, former Eternal star Louise said competing on the series has been a massive confidence boost for her.

“I have been overwhelmed,” she said. "People have been very supportive and really kind. I had no idea how I was going to be perceived. I am doing my best for people who have constantly said, ‘Believe in yourself’.”
