Clooney's dad in engagement joy
George Clooney's dad has said he is "thrilled" about his son's forthcoming wedding.
The Gravity star is finally settling down and ending his bachelor status after he popped the question to London-based barrister Amal Alamuddin.
George's dad, Nick, 80, told US Weekly: "We are thrilled.
"We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman and these are two great people."
His comment comes after the star's mother, Nina, said she "couldn't be happier" about the engagement.
Speaking to MailOnline, she said: "We weren't at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn't be happier for them.
"On an intellectual level, they are equals. That is very important to him. Amal's world couldn't be more different from the Hollywood lifestyle. She's a lawyer, she is brilliant, she is a very bright woman and at the very top of her career."
She added: "They also share a sense of fun, a sense of humour and they are both very caring people."
Amal was spotted wearing a large ring as she accompanied George to a dinner with Cindy Crawford and Edward Norton at a Californian restaurant.
