Cool FM set to undergo summer shake-up

By Maureen Coleman

Radio station Cool FM is to undergo its biggest ever scheduling shake-up this summer.

From next Monday, the Newtownards-based station will see a new line-up which includes a few familiar voices as well as several new additions to the team.

As part of the major reshuffle, broadcasting stalwart John Kearns will return to his Cool FM roots after a spell at Citybeat. The former MTV host will take up the reins on a new drive-time show, which airs from 4-7pm.

Pete Snodden will be back in the early morning slot after almost two years of getting a line-in. With news, sport and chat from new addition Paulo Ross, the revamped breakfast show will kick off at 6am on Monday.

Paul Kennedy will remain in the mid-morning slot while Gareth Stewart will helm the new afternoon show from 1-4pm. Gareth's side-kick Connor Phillips is moving to Cool FM's sister stations in North West England, but his popular Saturday show will continue on Cool.

DJ Hix, who will be handing over the keys of the drive-time show to John Kearns, will move to the 7-10pm evening slot, followed by new addition Emma Fitzpatrick from 10pm-1am. The former Citybeat favourite will host a mix of music and chat in the Cool Goes Quiet spot.
