Corbett taken ill at CBE party
Ronnie Corbett collapsed while celebrating his New Year Honour, the funnyman's wife has revealed.
The former Two Ronnies star was taken to hospital by ambulance after being taken ill at his home in Croydon, south London, on New Year's Day.
He was then transferred to a private hospital but was allowed home last week, his wife Anne said.
The comedy veteran had been feeling weak on the day his CBE was announced last month, following a knee operation for which he was receiving medication.
His wife told the Croydon Advertiser: "They think it was a combination of this and the fact he had not felt like eating very much recently which led to the problem.
"He has undergone a number of tests and all the results have come back clear, which is good news."
The couple had been enjoying a Chinese meal to mark the honour which was in recognition of Ronnie's services to entertainment and charity.
The comic won his way into British hearts through his partnership with Ronnie Barker on their long-running sketch show.
Diminutive Corbett is also well-known for his rambling monologues delivered from an armchair.
