Corrie's Becky sifts through rubble

Coronation Street's Becky McDonald will have to sift through the rubble of the destroyed Corner Shop to get to an unconscious Sunita Alahan as Weatherfield is left reeling by a horrific tram crash.

But the barmaid, played by Katherine Kelly, is tempted to go from heroine to villain when she spots cash spewing out of the shop's open safe in tonight's (Tuesday's) episode.

Last night, viewers saw a tram career off the viaduct and smash into The Kabin and the Alahans' business following an explosion at new bar The Joinery.

As the extent of the devastation starts to become apparent, Becky spots Sunita (Shobna Gulati) buried under the debris as she searches for nephew Max, who went missing before the crash.

The shop worker is fighting for life and in urgent need of medical attention.

But as she summons the emergency services, reformed tearaway Becky catches sight of money spilling from safe and considers helping herself to the cash.

Coronation Street marks its 50th anniversary this week with a series of special episodes, including an hour-long live broadcast on Thursday.
