Cotton and Whitbread leave jungle

Soap star Antony Cotton was left "gutted" after being voted out of the I'm A Celebrity jungle on the show's penultimate day.

The 36-year-old actor hugged the other contestants when he was told his bid to reach the final had failed by a single day.

Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in Coronation Street, said: "I'm absolutely gutted. I've come this far. I'd never thought about the final from the get-go until last night."

He added: "I'm gutted but I did what I could do. I'm amazed that I lasted that long."

Despite being a fan of the show, Cotton said it was impossible to prepare for being in the jungle, which was "emotional and exciting".

He went on: "I suppose it's at once the most liberating feeling you can ever have and then on the other side you feel like you're locked in and you can't run away."

Former Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread was also voted off, finishing third place on the show.

That left TOWIE star Mark Wright and McFly bassist Dougie Poynter to battle it out in Saturday's final.
