Cuban singer lights up the launch of Belfast International Arts Festival
One of the headline acts for this year's Belfast International Arts Festival was in Belfast yesterday to launch the 2019 programme.
Cuban-born singer Yaite Ramos-Rodriguez, known as La Dame Blanche, is the daughter of the creative director of the Buena Vista Social Club.
Her show at the Belfast Empire will be one of 14 premieres and 200 events across the city over 20 days from October 15 to November 3.
The festival covers theatre, dance, classical and roots music, visual, film and digital arts and literature accompanied by outreach and educational events.
Among the events already included is singer-songwriter Glen Hansard and his band, who are returning to Belfast for a special sit-down performance in the Grand Opera House.
