Emmerdale's Danny Miller was one of a number of stars who got emotional as the winners were announced at the 2011 British Soap Awards.
The actor, who plays Aaron Livesy, gave a tearful tribute to Gavin Blyth, Emmerdale's series producer who died last year at the age of 41, and was posthumously given a Special Achievement Award. He had previously also worked on Coronation Street.
Danny presented the award to his widow, Suzy Blyth. After a standing ovation from the audience in honour of the late producer, Mrs Blyth said: "I told Gavin we'd get some b****y awards this year - he just wouldn't wait, as usual.
"I am so incredibly proud of my husband. He's left an amazing legacy for his children."
There was also emotion when Liz Dawn, who played Bill Tarmey's screen wife Vera on Coronation Street, announced he had won the Lifetime Achievement award.
Bill could not accept the award in person as he is resting ahead of an operation.
Alan Halsall, who played Jack's surrogate son, was shown on a video giving him the award. Bill said he would "treasure" the honour, and added: "I never, ever in my life's dreams did I think I'd receive something like this."
Emmett J Scanlan's Hollyoaks colleagues wore false moustaches in honour of his trademark facial hair. The actor was given a standing ovation by the cast of the soap as he collected the Best Newcomer award.
Accepting her Best Actress award, EastEnders' Jessie Wallace said: "I truthfully did not expect to get this."
She thanked her on-screen husband Shane Richie as well as "off-screen husband-to-be Vince."
