Dempsey: Racing my real passion
Patrick Dempsey has said he'll stay on Grey's Anatomy on one condition - that he gets time off to race.
The actor - who stars as Dr Derek Shepherd, aka Dr McDreamy, in the medical drama - told reporters at the Daytona International Speedway that he wants to pursue his passion for racing, reports People.
Patrick, whose Grey's contract runs out at the end of the eighth season, said: "The biggest point for me in negotiations is getting time off to come race, so if I don't miss races, I'll probably stay on Grey's Anatomy."
The 45-year-old, who has played the character since 2005, said the sport is his "real passion" although he also enjoys stepping into Dr Shepherd's scrubs.
"It keeps me in town so I can be around my family," said the father-of-three. "So we'll see. Hopefully we can work out a deal."
The star also noted that the award-winning series is still doing well.
"We're certainly talking about the future," he added.
