Dom Joly: Mum not my biggest fan

Dom Joly has admitted there is one person who is not a fan of his TV work - his own mum.

The 45-year-old is back playing pranks on unsuspecting members of the public for the second series of his hidden camera ITV sketch show Fool Britannia.

Dom said of his mum: "She watches my shows and then she'll go, 'Oh gosh, it was just so fast'.

"Then I'll write something once every three years about Syria in The Independent, and she'll literally print that out and that's all she'll live off for the next three years, and that's what I do for a living."

He added: "My mum longs for me to do something that has depth or seriousness to it in any way. But that's not going to happen."

The comedian, who lives in the countryside with his Canadian wife, 13-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son, joked that a lot of Brits would be in trouble with their partners if all the footage from Fool Britannia was shown.

"I do have an entire series' worth of Fool Britannia which, if it ever aired, marriages would break down all over the country.

"There are an extraordinary number of people walking our streets cuckolding their other halves. As soon as they realise we've been filming, they tell us that they're not with their partners and we obviously agree not to show it."

:: Fool Britannia returns to ITV tonight (October 5).
