A Belfast blues legend, a Ballymena actor who dominates the movie charts and a Holywood hunk who brought a masochistic novel's anti-hero to life on the big screen have all been honoured at a glitzy awards bash.
Actor Jamie Dornan was presented with the Breakthrough award by Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James at the GQ Men Of The Year ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London. He plays Christian Grey in the erotic film adaptation of James's novel.
Dornan was one of three Northern Irish stars to be hailed. Non Stop and Lego Movie star Liam Neeson won the Editor's Special prize. And rock star Bob Geldof, father of the late Peaches Geldof, handed the Legend award to Van Morrison.
Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch, Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi and Hollywood heartthrob Colin Firth all picked up gongs. Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr got an award for his humanitarian work, while Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Johnny Depp presented punk pioneer Iggy Pop with the Icon trophy.
