Downpatrick rockers Ash to top the bill at Stendhal Festival 2017

Downpatrick band Ash are among the acts to perform at this year's Stendhal Festival in Limavady.

The band will perform their headlining gig at Ballymully Cottage Farm in the town on Friday, August 11.

In a career spanning over 20 years, Ash have produced 18 top 40 singles, two UK Number 1 Albums - 1977 and Free All Angels - and a further three albums which all charted in the top 10.

They will be one of many Northern Ireland acts to appear at the award-winning music and arts festival, which is now in it's seventh year.

Also included in the line up is Jealous of the Birds, Ciaran Lavery, Anthony Toner, and Portaferry star Ryan McMullan, who has recently been opening for Ed Sheeran on his European tour dates.

Other acts announced include Irish folk singer Sharon Shannon, Parisian/Manhattan Electro swing act Ginkgoa, and German electronic music star Ulrich Schnauss.

Further line-up announcements for the festival will be made in the coming weeks.

Stendhal Festival organiser, Ross Parkhill, said: “We are really pleased to be welcoming so many top acts to Stendhal again this year.

"Last year was by far and away our best year ever so we have been working incredibly hard in the knowledge that we have to top it.

“The first part of the music line-up shows that we are on our way to doing that and that Stendhal is once again going to be the most unmissable music event in Northern Ireland this summer.”

  • The Stendhal Festival will run from August 11-12. Tickets are on sale now at and from local ticket outlets next week.
