Belfast presenter Eamonn Holmes proposed to wife Ruth Langsford by sending her a text message.
The couple revealed details of how the important question was asked after it was revealed in a recent poll that half of women were disappointed by the way they were proposed to.
Speaking on This Morning on Thursday, Ruth commented that popping the question must be a very daunting task, to which Eamonn told her: "I never for one second thought you were going to say no."
Turning to the camera, Ruth revealed: "Eamonn proposed by text. Now I know what you are thinking straight away, 'That doesn't sound very romantic' and yet it was the most romantic thing ever.
"It was very spur of the moment, we were having a day at the races.
"It was very unexpected. Basically he got jealous because there were men flirting with me, that's what it was," she joked.
Eamonn boasted his proposal was basically "text poetry, or even text porn".
After a scolding from Ruth, he added: "I mean they were very luscious words."
The couple married in 2010. They have a 15-year-old son named Jack.
Last week it was announced Ruth would be taking part in the 2017 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
