Eamonn Holmes tells of delight at Ruth’s present as Northern Ireland celebs share festive snaps
Some of Northern Ireland's most famous faces have shared how they spent the festive season as they wished fans a Merry Christmas.
TV presenter Eamonn Holmes woke up to find a portrait of "the other special lady in his life" underneath the tree on Tuesday morning.
The beautifully framed picture of his beloved pet pooch Maggie, which was wrapped in a red ribbon, was gifted to him by his wife and This Morning co-host Ruth Langsford.
She took to social media to show off her present to Eamonn, who also shared snaps of the couple's rescue dog enjoying the festivities.
But while Maggie lay by the fire draped in a personalised festive red blanket, Christmas eventually took its toll on her doting owner.
"Time for a Christmas snooze," the former Sky News presenter wrote just after 5pm.
"And the dog is ready for a lie down too."
The TalkRadio host wished all his followers "compliments of the season" as he bragged that his Santa salt and pepper shakers were better than Ruth's more conventional version.
"I think we'll agree - No competition! Ho Ho Ho," he wrote.
Eamonn was still admiring his kitchen utensils as he sat down to enjoy his Boxing Day breakfast yesterday, but the pair managed to avoid falling out.
"The view just gets better," he wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of plate of salmon and scrambled eggs cooked by his "domestic goddess" wife.
Carl Frampton enjoyed a "lovely Christmas meal" with his entire family in the Wolf and Whistle restaurant in west Belfast.
Still bruised from his defeat to Josh Warrington in Manchester on Saturday night, the Tigers Bay boxing hero spent Christmas night relaxing on the sofa while sipping on a soft drink.
"Back on the Freeway Cola since he got bate," his wife Christine wrote on Twitter.
She had previously shared a picture of her husband and one of their two children dressed in matching pyjama bottoms as they wished fans a Merry Christmas.
"We hope you all got everything you wished for," she told followers.
The couple enjoyed a lamb dinner at home on Boxing Day.
BBC NI weatherman Barra Best was delighted to run into his colleague Angie Phillips in the same restaurant where the Framptons were celebrating Christmas.
"Lovely to bump into my fab colleague while out for Christmas dinner," he wrote on Twitter alongside a selfie of the pair.
He also shared pictures of his turkey dinner, which was soaked in gravy.
But it seems the highlight of Barra's day was being able to exchange festive greetings with Carl and Christine.
Referring to the couple he added: "Even got a happy Christmas from the legends."
