Elton John enjoying reading to son

Sir Elton John has become something of an expert on children's books - while reading to his son.

The singer and his partner David Furnish, who became parents via a surrogate mother last Christmas Day, are reading to six-month-old Zachary every night.

Elton revealed to Magic FM: "Every night at 6.30pm we read him a story, that's the highlight of the day. I've become an expert on children's books.

"Of course we've done The Very Hungry Caterpillar! "

He added: "He likes Stick Man and also The Gruffalo. The author of those books Julia Donaldson is amazing, she's fantastic."

The 64-year-old star - who is performing at Magic Summer Live at Hatfield House on July 17 - loves being a father and said Zachary was "the icing on the cake" in his life.

Elton said: "My life has been quite remarkable, some of the things that have happened to me I never dreamt would happen to me ever....He's six months, he's had his first solid food. It (time) goes so quickly.

"When I'm singing at night, I sometimes think of him during a set and burst out laughing. He's a great antidote to feeling miserable. Every single second he's just adorable.

"He just makes me smile so much. He's just a gorgeous little boy."
