Evans jokes about 'Duchess effect'
Chris Evans has joked that he missed the start of his Radio 2 breakfast show for the first time because of the effect the Duchess of Cornwall had on him.
Chris spent Tuesday afternoon with Camilla after enlisting her support for the children's short story contest 500 Words, which is now in its fifth year.
But earlier today he missed the first 30 minutes of his morning show and colleague Vanessa Feltz had to fill in until he arrived. She joked about how the DJ must have been partying with the royals.
When the celebrity met Camilla at a primary school in north London, where they were joining children for a story writing master class, he quipped it was her fault.
He told the Duchess: "Have you heard, I overslept for the first time ever?" then made her laugh by saying: "That's the sort of effect you have on me."
The special "story laboratory'' launched this year's contest to find promising young writers at Weston Park Primary School in Haringey.
In the school's main hall Chris was hosting a master class where three of the judging panel, Francesca Simon, creator of the Horrid Henry series of books, Frank Cottrell Boyce and Children's Laureate Malorie Blackman were giving children their top tips.
