Fans' joy as Robert Redford and Jane Fonda reunite
They are Hollywood royalty who starred as lovers in four films.
Yesterday Robert Redford and Jane Fonda were reunited at a photocall amid the glamour of the Venice Film Festival.
The meeting - 38 years after their last on-screen appearance together - was for their latest film, Our Souls At Night.
Judging by the star-struck reaction from Venice audiences, the chemistry that lit up the 1967 romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park - one of their most memorable pairings - remains strong.
Fonda said she loves the fact "that these films bookend our careers".
Redford (81) and 79-year-old Fonda received lifetime achievement awards from the festival yesterday. They are among a plethora of older stars at the Venice fest, which runs until September 9.
Redford produced Our Souls at Night, which is based on a novel by Kent Haruf.
