Feltz: Strictly dented self-esteem

Vanessa Feltz has told how performing on Strictly Come Dancing has knocked her self-esteem.

The broadcaster, who performs with professional dancer James Jordan on the BBC One show, said that rubbing shoulders with the likes of his stunning professional dancer wife Ola Jordan and fellow contestants Abbey Clancy and Fiona Fullerton had given her body issues.

Vanessa, who was placed in the bottom four on the show's leaderboard last weekend, wrote in her column for Closer magazine: "The truth is, dancing is about grace, lightness and forming 'beautiful shapes and lines'.

"That's why professional dancers are wafer-thin and ooze natural elegance.

"It's tough on the self-esteem for a famous fat person like me to strip off in the dressing room alongside the likes of James' exquisite wife Ola and willowy model Abbey Clancy."

The radio presenter, 51, wrote: " Just imagine me standing there in my Spanx, 38DDs slightly drooping out of a greyish bra, and seeing former Bond girl Fiona Fullerton, five years my senior, trim and svelte, slipping into a skin-tight frock, pert and braless."

Vanessa said that she has lost half a stone because of the gruelling training schedule.

But she added: "Strictly certainly makes me body conscious! I have to keep reminding myself that I have a sparky personality."
