First pictures from new BBC drama with Prince of Wales as king released

Peaky Blinders star Charlotte Riley sports the Duchess of Cambridge's signature wavy hair in the first pictures from a new BBC drama with the Prince of Wales as king.

Riley can be seen in a black wrap dress with purple flowers, apparently sitting at a breakfast table in front of an iPad in the first images from King Charles III.

Veteran theatre actor Tim Pigott-Smith, who starred in the award-winning play of the same name, can be seen in the title role in a dark double-breasted pinstripe suit and tie.

The new show, which envisions a constitutional crisis, also stars Green Wing actor Oliver Chris as the Duke of Cambridge.

It will show the new king refusing to sign a controversial bill causing political chaos, rioting on the streets and a tank in front of Buckingham Palace.

The 90-minute one-off programme is based on Mike Barlett's Laurence Olivier award-winning play.

Directed by Rupert Goold, it won the Best New Play at the 2015 Laurence Olivier Awards.
