Former Big Brother contestant Rebekah Shelton posts video confirming she's 'not dead'
Former Big Brother contestant Rebekah Shelton has posted a video on to her Twitter account to assure people she's "not dead".
Reports of the 32-year-old passing away came after a message was posted on to her Twitter page which read: "We're sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night.
"We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time."
However, on Friday afternoon the transgender star, who was known as Rodrigo Lopes before her gender reassignment surgery, sensationally posted a video to set the record straight.
I’m not dead!!!!!! Please stop spreading this news!!!!! My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!!!!! pic.twitter.com/6PEzjjEGye— Rebekah Shelton (@MissRShelton) January 12, 2018
In the video, she explained: "Hi everyone, I just want to kindly ask please stop spreading the rumour that I’m dead.
"Because obviously I’m not. I’ve been through hell today.
"Because someone used my Twitter account to write that stupid status about me. This person can’t accept the fact that I’m happy, that I overcame all my problems, and that I finally have my life happy. I’m on holiday, I’m in Arabia.
"I’m not dead."
Rebekah appeared in the 2009 series of Big Brother.
Brazilian-born Rebekah underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2014, and told OK! magazine that her family were having trouble coming to terms with it.
"The only thing I wish is that that my family will learn to accept me," she told the publication.
"It was a big step to go full time as a woman. It’s different when you are having fun with your friends in the clubs, to changing your whole life and facing the rejection or acceptance of the world."
