Gaga: Mothers should be upfront
Lady Gaga has said mothers should discuss safe sex with their daughters.
The Born This Way star also revealed she wasn't ready to lose her virginity at 17, branding her first time a "terrible experience".
The singer, whose new MAC Viva Glam Gaga lipstick is raising money for people affected by HIV and AIDS, told this week's Grazia: "Mothers should talk to their daughters about safe sex, my mother talked to me about it when I was seven or eight years old.
"I think that's right to talk about it really early on."
The multi-award winning musician added: "I didn't lose my virginity until I was 17. But I have to say even then I wasn't ready and it was an absolutely terrible experience."
Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - recently picked up a Grammy for Best Female Pop Performance for Bad Romance.
