Kate Garraway was taken to hospital after smashing her head on a studio light, according to reports.

Daybreak's entertainment editor had just finished interviewing motor racing ace Lewis Hamilton and was recording promo links when the accident happened, according to The Sun.

An onlooker was quoted as saying: "Kate was left dazed and shaken. It's fortunate Lewis had left as she'd have been really embarrassed.

"Production crew immediately attended to her. Kate didn't make a big fuss but was forced to get the injury looked at."

Kate was one of the hosts of Daybreak's predecessor, GMTV.

Daybreak, hosted by Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, is reportedly watched by just half the number that tune in for rival BBC Breakfast.
