Northern Ireland stars shared touching messages of love and appreciation on Father's Day yesterday.

World Champion boxer Carl Frampton posted a grainy sepia tone photo of his dad Craig, and joked: "Happy Father's Day to my Da. Glad he's grown into his neck!"

The ring legend also retweeted a message he had received from his family for Fathers' Day.

"Happy Fathers Day @RealCFrampton. Thank you for everything that you do for us.

"We love you up to the sky & back. Carla, Rossa & Manny."

Manny is the Frampton family dog - named after famous Filipino fighter, Manny Pacquiao.

Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody spoke movingly of his father Jack, who is now in his 80s, and was diagnosed with dementia three years ago.

In an interview with Shortlist Magazine, published to coincide with Father's Day, the singer said: "My dad will walk into a room, and it will get brighter.

"I never saw him cry when I was growing up, but I've seen him well up a few times recently.

"In a strange way, as he becomes more detached from everything he is becoming more in tune with his feelings," he told the online magazine.

Asked what his plans were for Father's Day, Gary said simply: "My plan is to spend it with him."

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes posted an old black and white photo of his father Len, saying: "Here's my Daddy.

"Len The Carpetman. Gone 27 years ... but I say something to him every day."

The former newsreader also posted a heartwarming image of himself with his children, captioned: "I'm The Daddy ! ... and these are my babies. Love them so much".

Cool FM presenter Pete Snodden shared a poignant memory of his late father.

"My Dad could always pick an awesome bottle of red," he said.

"I'll have a glass tonight and remember the good times.

"Happy Father's Day to Dads everywhere.

"I miss mine every day."

Also sharing the day's joy were celebrities all over the UK.

TV star Declan Donnelly, who is expecting his first child with wife Ali Astall, wrote: "Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there, to all the Dads that have passed and of course, all of the Dads to be! Have a great day. D x"

Victoria Beckham has described her husband David as the "best daddy" in an online tribute.

The fashion designer shared a photograph on Instagram of the former footballer sitting on the bonnet of a car alongside sons Cruz and Romeo and daughter Harper.
