Halle Berry: 'Chicken pox derailed my son’s Halloween'

Halle Berry’s two-year-old son had to pass on trick or treating this year, because he was battling chickenpox.

The 49-year-old actress, who recently split from the boy's father - her third husband Olivier Martinez, reveals little Maceo had to stay at home while all his friends and big sister Nahla went door-to-door collecting candy at Halloween because he was sick. But Halle still made sure her son's night was fun.

"Maceo didn't go trick-or-treating 'cause he has the chicken pox," she told news show Extra. "Nahla was a zombie cheerleader, and we had a great time. I was a pirate and she's like, 'You're a sexy pirate, Mommy,' I'm like, 'What do you know about a sexy pirate?'"

Halle’s family life has been rocked by the end of her marriage to French actor Olivier - the couple announced the split last month after two years of marriage.

The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress admits splitting from Olivier is quite a challenge, but she is managing to remain optimistic in the wake of the breakup.

"I'm doing okay, I really am,” she insisted.

Meanwhile, Halle, admits she's far from concerned about the facts she turns 50 in August 2016, adding, "I am not going to be defined by that number. Yeah, it's coming. Yeah, so what? I am not going to be defined by that 5-0."

Even though the actress isn’t letting the aging process get her down, Halle admits she isn’t super excited about turning 50 either.

She plans on celebrating the birthday with a whole bunch of loved ones by her side to lighten the impact of becoming a 50-something.

"I want it to come and go as fast as it can,” Halle said. “I'm going to take my five best girlfriends to a Caribbean island, we're going to have a cleansing, we're going to jump in the ocean butt-naked and have a spiritual moment and bond and connect as women. That's how I'm going to blow it out with my girls, with my best, closest, dearest friends… I love my 'womanships'."
