Comedian Julian Clary has married his long-term partner Ian Mackley.

The comedian, 57, announced the happy news on Twitter with a tongue-in-cheek message.

He posted a picture of himself and Mackley signing the marriage register and wrote: "On Saturday he slipped his finger into my ring at last. #married."

The couple have been together since 2005 after they met on a yacht in Ibiza.

Clary's fellow comedians Dawn French and Mark Trevorrow were among those to post congratulations on social media.

French tweeted "Wooooohoooooo!" and added a string of hearts.

Australian comic Trevorrow said: "Oh my dearest darlings - sincere congrats and much love to you both. Thrilled!"
