Humes called Cowell about Voice

Marvin Humes has revealed he called Simon Cowell for his approval before taking his new job on The Voice.

The JLS singer found fame on the TV mogul's ITV show The X Factor, and wanted to make sure Simon was OK with him presenting the BBC talent show, reported the Daily Mirror.

"Fortunately, he gave me the thumbs up," he said.

"I was touched. Simon's always been very supportive and he would never hold me back."

Marvin has also had a taste of TV when he and his wife, Saturdays star Rochelle, were guest hosts on This Morning.

"If we got offered the permanent Friday gig we would jump at the chance for sure," said the star. "We love doing it and the reaction has been fantastic."

Marvin, who has a six-month old baby girl, Alaia-Mai, with Rochelle, believes the couple's real-life relationship is beneficial when they are on television together.

"You get that natural couple vibe and you can't fake that," he said. "We give each other a bit of banter and take the mickey. It's really nice going to work together in a car too."
