Coronation Street killer John Stape appears to be rumbled by wife Fiz as she catches him red-handed with a corpse.

The body count has been stacking up as Stape - played by Graeme Hawley - has gone about his crime spree.

But after burying the truth about the death and deception, it looks like his guilt is about to be uncovered when he is forced to move a body.

Fiz - played by Jennie McAlpine - has already found out that John has stolen Colin Fishwick's identity. And in Friday night's edition of the ITV1 soap, she will see him trying to shift his body.

He had hidden the body beneath the floor of the Underworld factory. But he tries to cover his tracks to stop Colin's corpse being found when the floor is being dug up.

John has killed Colin's mother Joy and ex-teaching colleague Charlotte Hoyle over the months among his dastardly deeds. And last week, as the net appeared to be closing, he kidnapped Fiz's brother Chesney (Sam Aston), along with Charlotte's parents, holding them prisoner in a basement.

Suspicious Fiz is faced with the full horror of his evil after she follows him and catches him holding Colin's body.

Friday's episode - screened at 8.30pm - is the curtain-raiser for a week of explosive programmes, airing at 7pm on Sunday and then 9pm for the rest of the week.

Jennie said it is difficult for her character to come to terms with what she is witnessing.

She added: "It's definitely not what Fiz expected to see. She can't compute what's happened, she just sees John with this body and she doesn't know who it is. It's the most horrific thing and she can't take in what she's faced with."
