Ice dream ends for model and actor

Model Elen Rivas and former Neighbours actor Craig McLachlan have skated off this year's Dancing On Ice competition.

The pair did not win enough votes from the audience to proceed to the final 12 selected to take part in the show.

They had faced a skate-off with Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe after each dancing a routine in a bid to impress both the television viewers and judging panel.

TV presenters Angela Rippon and Nadia Sawalha had been voted out after last week's first qualifying round.

Elen, who has two children with her ex footballer Frank Lampard, scored 11 out of 30 for her routine to Sade's Your Love Is King and stuck out her tongue when she learned the judges had not awarded her more points.

Judge Robin Cousins told her she had been "a bit staccato" while gracing the ice with professional dance partner Lukasz Rozycki, with former Spice Girl Emma Bunton agreeing that she "looked uncomfortable".

Craig, best known for playing Henry Ramsay in the popular soap opera, danced to the Rolling Stones' Sympathy For The Devil and was praised by the judges for having "great charisma".

The Australian took the news of his departure from the show well, saying: "The good news is, there's a six-foot swell coming in at Bondi, there's a new board waiting for me..."

Actress Jennifer, Radio One presenter "Comedy" Dave Vitty, model and presenter Chloe Madeley, EastEnders actor Sam Attwater, former cricketer Dominic Cork and Loose Women host Denise Welch will also skate next week after impressing on the ice.

They join former Coronation Street actor Steven Arnold, Victoria Cross hero Johnson Beharry, Nickelodeon presenter Laura Hamilton, reality TV star Kerry Katona, presenter Jeff Brazier and singer Vanilla Ice in the final 12.
