Jack Whitehall in teacher role

Jack Whitehall, the comedian and Fresh Meat star, is getting his own BBC comedy series.

The stand-up will play schoolteacher Alfie, described as "the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system", in Bad Education.

The star, who was educated at the fee-paying Marlborough College, also wrote the six-part series, to be broadcast on BBC Three.

Other new comedy series for the channel include Some Girls, a "comedy about the kind of girls more usually seen in worrying documentaries about inner city teens", written by Bernadette Davis.

The Revolution Will Be Televised sees Heydon Prowse and Jolyon Rubinstein "take on the not-so-good of Westminster, self-obsessed and narcissistic celebrities, bonus-embezzling bankers as well as anyone else they think deserves their attention".
