A woman believed to be James Nesbitt's girlfriend tried to get in to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in Belfast by claiming to be the Co Antrim actor's wife, according to a report.
Belfast actress Katy Gleadhill was stuck outside the SSE Arena for half an hour after Cold Feet and The Missing star Nesbitt went inside. She was unable to convince door staff she was the star's plus one.
The Mail on Sunday reported that a doorman said she had claimed to be Nesbitt's wife, although the Coleraine actor is still married.
However, he and Sonia Forbes-Adams have been separated for around two years. They were together for almost two decades and have two daughters.
The newspaper reported that Gleadhill - who starred with Nesbitt in award-winning BBC2 film Five Minutes of Heaven - complained loudly that she had been "stuck out in the cold for half an hour waiting for him" and that she "couldn't believe that he had not noticed her absence".
Nesbitt eventually heard of her plight and ushered her in to the glitzy ceremony.
