James Van Der Beek becomes a father
James Van Der Beek, the former star of Dawson's Creek, has become a proud father for the first time.
The 33-year-old actor and his wife Kimberly welcomed daughter Olivia on Saturday.
James announced on Twitter: "Had the blessing of becoming a father over the weekend... Couldn't come close to describing this bliss even if I had 140 million characters.
"I apologise in advance for any obnoxiously precious new-dad tweets that may follow. I'm under her spell..."
The American football fan later added: "If I watch football with my daughter now, she'll like the sounds of the NFL and want to watch it with me when she's older. Mom doesn't think so."
James and second wife Kimberly were married in August in a small Jewish ceremony at the Kabbalah Centre near Dizengoff Plaza in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The actor, who rose to fame as troubled teen Dawson, starring opposite Katie Holmes as childhood sweetheart Joey, plays Dr Joe Briggs in the latest series of US TV medical drama Mercy.
